Dr. Heiko Borchert owns and manages Borchert Consulting & Research AG, a strategic affairs consultancy, and is Associate Partner of Verocy and the Wise Pens Team International, Subject Matter Expert with The Hague Center for Strategic Studies, and member of the advisory board of the Zeitschrift für Aussen- und Sicherheitspolitik. Since 1997 he has been working as a security and defense policy consultant for public and private sector clients. Among others, his areas of work include armaments policy, critical infrastructure protection, cyber security, defense biometrics, defense-related science and technology, energy and resource supply security, maritime security, public-private security cooperation, and unmanned and autonomous maritime systems. Dr. Borchert has published more than 130 papers in his areas of work and is co-editor of a series of books on the theory and practice of the Comprehensive Approach. He has studied business administration, law, economics, and international relations at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he also received his Ph.D.

Dr. Cyril Widdershoven owns and manages the Dutch risk consultancy Verocy and is Senior Vice President Research at MEA-RISK, a Senior Fellow of Turkey-based strategic think tank Hazar as well as an advisor to several governments and energy companies. Middle East specialist and oil-gas analyst, Dr. Widdershoven is currently focusing on issues related to critical energy infrastructure protection with a focus on the protection of onshore and offshore of oil and gas installations as well as port infrastructure. He is also working on defense issues as well as energy-related procurement and investment projects in the oil and gas sectors in the MENA region as well as for MENA-based entities in the European Union. In all his assignments Dr. Widdershoven is combining his understanding of political risk in a challenging geostrategic context with insights and experience across energy and defense sectors. He has lived and worked extensively in the Middle East and North Africa.  Dr. Widdershoven has a PhD in War Studies from King's College London.
